The Clinton County Humane Society held an executive session Monday night at the Clinton County Fairgrounds to determine which direction to go after firing director Jim Tate last week. All of Tate’s workers quit in protest of the firing which forced the shelter to close Friday.
According to WLFI, more than 30 protesters gathered outside to voice their displeasure. Humane Society Board members called the police department when protesters entered the building. However, they were never able to reach the meeting room itself, which was locked. Police told protesters they have to leave the building.
The Clinton County Humane Society said they would issue a press release following Monday night’s meeting. However, WILO News has not received that release as of early Tuesday morning.
Board of Directors President Nancy Elsea on Monday said the shelter would be closed this week, but would reopen next week.
