At approximately 11:21 p.m. Wednesday, Frankfort Police Lieutenant Brady Sorrells conducted a traffic stop in the area of Kyger Street and Rossville Avenue for an equipment violation. Based upon observed behaviors, Lt. Sorrells requested a Clinton County Sheriff’s K9 unit. Lieutenant Ryan Ashlock and K9 Chase arrived and assisted by performing a free-air exterior sniff of the vehicle. During a subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle, illegal contraband was located.
Arrested were 22-year-old Brie Mathews of Lebanon and 28-year-old Ronald Creasy of Indianapolis. Mathews was booked in the Clinton County Jail with the following preliminary charges: Neglect of a Dependent, Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of a Syringe. Creasy was booked in with a preliminary charge of Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Narcotic Drug. All requested charges are felonies.
The Department of Child Services was contacted regarding an infant in the vehicle.
According to Chief Troy Bacon, “As promised, our relentless pursuit of arresting those who bring illegal drugs into our city continues into 2019. Our officers are making Frankfort a safer place and our roads less dangerous for everyone; especially the newborn child inside the violators vehicle”.
“I would like to thank the continued cooperation and partnership we have with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office as both agencies share the goal of making Frankfort and Clinton County a safer place.”
Mathews and Creasy were transported to the Clinton County Jail where they will await formal charges by the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office.
