The Crossing School Commencement at the First Church of the Nazarene in Frankfort Saturday morning honored some 50 graduates from Frankfort, Kokomo, Lafayette and Henry Poor Campuses.
The 90 minute ceremony gathered some 600 students, graduates, educators, family and friends from four of the 21 Crossing Campuses State-wide.
The Crossing School Mission Statement is:
Empowering struggling students to become contributing members of their communities through Academics, Job Training and Faith-Bases Character Education.
Graduating students were each given an opportunity to share with the 600 attendees gathered at the commencement. Most brief comments from the graduates thanked those who were influential in thier lives and most gave a quick look at plans in the future. Some graduates plan to continue their education by attending College or University, some will continue to pursue the career already started in the Job Training opportunities they are currently pursuing and some will focus on family priorities for the next chapter in their life.
Each student’s story was unique and reflected the reason Jeremiah 29:11 was projected on the two large screens at one point during the ceremony.
”For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me” Jeremiah 29:11
The Crossing School was started in 2003 by Rob Staley. Staley was at the Graduation Ceremony and congratulated the students and shared the mission and growth of the growing “Crossing Family”. There are currently 21 Crossing Campuses in Indiana with plans for 25 campuses by 2020.
Each graduate received a Bible, Crossing Bag, Crossing T-Shirt and a flower to give to someone who encouraged and supported their efforts.
