John D. Payne, Sr., 70, of Frankfort passed at his home, Tuesday, July 2, 2019. He was born December 4, 1948 in Frankfort to Carl “Popeye” and Marjorie (Coffman) Payne, Jr. John was a 1966 graduate of Clinton Central High School. On September 9, 1979, John married Debbie Lambert, she survives. He worked for 31 years at Fairfield Manufacturing and had also attended Frankfort First Church of the Nazarene, where he enjoyed serving as an usher. He enjoyed collecting Lionel Model Trains, golfing and was an avid Notre Dame fan.
Along with his wife, John is survived by his children, Angela (Phil) Payne Barnard of Beech Grove, Johnny (Lori) Payne, Jr. of Sheridan, and Jeremy (Tisha) Payne of Kirklin; siblings, Sandi Clark of Lafayette, Barb (Greg) Thomas of Rossville, Tom (Andee) Payne of Tucson, AZ, and Tim (Starr) Payne of Frankfort; “adopted” daughter, Kim Timmons and her daughters of Frankfort; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren with one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held, Friday, July 5, 2019 from 4-8 pm at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort and Saturday, July 6 from 10 am until the time of the service at 11am at Frankfort First Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Gordon Smith will officiate. Entombment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
