As part of the Police Department’s ongoing communications, Police Chief Troy Bacon released mid-year department statistics for 2019 showing officers responded to and provided 5,881 services from January – June; a decrease of 157 from the same period last year. Frankfort Code Enforcement has responded to 814 code enforcement violations.
According to Chief Troy Bacon, “The slight decrease in calls for service are attributed to hard work and strong effort by all divisions in the department to thwart crime by conducting focused patrols, thorough criminal and drug investigations, code enforcement and cooperation from the community over the past few years. The strong collaboration between the community and police officers has also yielded a continuing downward trend in crime in the City of Frankfort”.
Adult arrests decreased by 59 people from January – June compared to the same time in 2018. Drug violations and DUI arrests were also down. Preliminary Uniform Crime Report numbers indicate a 15% decrease in crime when compared with the first half of last year.
“I am extremely proud of the effort put forth by all employees of the police department to make Frankfort a safer place to live and visit and the continued support and cooperation from the community. Together we are making a difference,” said Bacon.
Police officers conducted 2,235 traffic stops, issued 356 warning and 410 citations.
Code enforcement issued 629 warnings and 238 tickets.
