Schools at Clinton Central Dealing With Wave of Sickness

All thee schools in the Clinton Central School Corporation has been hit with a wave of sickness. Superintendent Al Remaly said Tuesday afternoon that 130 staff and students in grades K-12 were absent Tuesday.

“We’re telling all of our parents their child must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school,” said Remaly. “Otherwise, keep them at home.”

Remaly said the sickness began late last week and has continued into the first two days this week.

“We’re being even more thorough than normal with our cleaning,” said Remaly. “We’re wiping down chairs, desks and doors.”

Remaly said there 66 absences at the elementary and middle school, 54 at the high school and 10 staff members on Tuesday.

Remaly added that the Health Department recommends closing the school when the numbers of absent students and staff reach 20 percent. He said the absentee numbers would have reach 180 for that to happen.
