Due to loss of pressure in the Frankfort Water Works Distribution System caused by construction activities on South Columbia St., citizens are being asked to boil their water before using Friday. This Boil Water Advisory applies only to South Columbia Street between Hackett Street and White Street and White Street between South Jackson Street and First Street.
A valve that was broken Thursday will need to be replaced Friday morning.
Bring tap water to a rolling boil for three minutes and cool before using….or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice.
On Friday, weather permitting, contractor crews will be shutting off the water supply at approximately 8 a.m. to make new water main connections. The water system will lose pressure due to this construction activity. When water mains lose pressure, it increases the chance that untreated water and undesirable microbes can enter the water main.
When the water pressure is restored, also on Friday, the water mains will be flushed and samples will be tested to insure the water is safe.
It is likely that you will need to boil water or use bottled water for drinking for two or more days. You will be informed when tests show that you no longer need to boil your water.
