Robert Eugene James Sr, 83, of Monticello, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020 at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. He was born November 19, 1936 in Rossville to Woodrow Wilson and Nina (Keller) James. Robert married Leanna Sue Everett and she passed on March 26, 1997. He then married Mary J. Kittrell who survives.
Robert retired in 1996, from Delphi Body Works in Delphi after 30 years. He had attended Cambria Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing on the radio with his mom and sister. Robert loved watching “Family Matters” with Steve Urkle. He will always be remembered as a jokester.
Along with his wife, Robert is survived by his children, Robert Eugene Jr. of Delphi, John E. (Sandra) of Delphi, Franklin W. (Sandra) of Delphi, Deidre (Kenneth) Gephart of Frankfort, Susan (Bill) Ginn of Lafayette; one sister, Karen James of Delphi; 24 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, four sisters, one grandson and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be held, Monday, March 2, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until the start of funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Rossville. Pastor Brett Rogers will officiate. Burial will follow at Ball Hill Cemetery in Cutler.
