Barbara L. Spears Barker, 71, a lifelong Clinton County resident, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017, at Clinton House.
She was born January 10, 1946, in Clinton County, to Hiram and Mary Moore Barker. Barb was formerly married to Robert Dean Spears Sr.; he survives in Tennessee. Also surviving is Jeffrey Weber, father of Jamie, of Mulberry.
In 1964, Barb graduated from Frankfort High School. Throughout her life, she worked at Wesley Manor, Harmeson’s, and Unielectric before retiring from Mallory Controls. Her true work passion was her restaurant, Country Delight, in Michigantown which was a family affair; along with her mother, aunt, and daughter, Barb enjoyed the days there from cooking to playing cards in the back to talking to the farmers. She enjoyed cooking and always made each family member’s favorite, and playing cards especially poker. Barb loved her dogs and was a past AKC dachshund breeder. Barb will be remembered as a spitfire, sarcastic, and independent lady; she was sweet to those who were sweet to her and saw the world in black and white.
Also surviving Barbara are her children, Tamela L. Spears Walters (Mike), of Frankfort, Robert D. Spears Jr. (Leah), of Lafayette, and Jason L. Spears (Monica) and Jamie Weber (fiancé, Tyler Winter), both of Frankfort; brother, Gene Barker (Lorene), of Frankfort; seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Angelina Dawn VanBriggle Bartczak; and great-granddaughter, Kinzie.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Frank Harness officiating.
