Melissa Dawn Rutan, 49, of Crawfordsville, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at her home in Crawfordsville. Melissa was born on September 8, 1972, in Franklin, IN. She enjoyed reading and shopping but most of all she loved spending time with her family and grandkids.
Surviving Melissa is her mother, Christy S. (Fred) Evans; son, Kyle Rutan of Indianapolis; daughters, Brooke Tishner and Bailey Tishner of Crawfordsville; brothers, Randall (Laura) Ridge of Westfield and Junior Oakes of Franklin; sisters, Tammy Ridge of Flat Rock, Penny Oakes (Brian True) of Franklin, Tonia (Eddie) Schrier of Poland, and Angie (Ben) Mayner 0f Lebanon; grandchildren, Andi, Ava, and Aurora Tishner; several nieces and nephews; and her cat, Koda. Melissa loved all her “adopted” children who called her mom.
Melissa is preceded in death by her parents, Loyce Edward and Betty Sue (Harris) Ridge.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Genda Funeral Home. In lieu of floral arrangements, memorials may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
