William B. McCormick, 86, of rural Michigantown, Ind., died December 31, 2022 at Indiana University Health Arnett, Lafayette, Ind., with his wife by his side. He was born March 22, 1936 in Columbus, OH to the late Joseph Don & Grace (Glassmeyer) McCormick. He married Cheryl A. “Sheri” (Ness) Fox on November 10, 1979 in Russiaville, Ind. and she survives.
Bill was a 1954 graduate of the University High School at The Ohio State University, he then went on to attend The Ohio State University. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, he served from 1958-1964. Bill was a Television News Anchor & Documentary Producer, working for TV13 in Indianapolis, Channel 7 in Evansville and TV18 in Lafayette. In his early television days in Ohio, he was known as the Singing Cowboy. He then went on to own The McCormick Company, Inc., and Walnut Ridge Media. Bill had a strong and deep faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, which guided him in his everyday life. He was a member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Frankfort, where he was a deacon, member of Frankfort Rotary, and a board member of Paul Phillippe Resource Center. Bill was a videographer for Frankfort Community Events. He loved horse trail riding with his wife Sheri, and especially loved his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife: Sheri McCormick of rural Michigantown, 2 Ssons: William Brian McCormick of Springfield, TN, Kevin David McCormick of Louisville, KY, Sheri’s children: Melissa (Jim) Carroll of Kalamazoo, MI, Todd (Missy) Fox of Michigantown and SooAnn (Matt) Boehm of Lafayette, 8 grandchildren, Meghan Ross, Clay & Lauren Carroll, Kelly, Sam & Alex Fox and Kacia & Hollyn Boehm. He was preceded in death by his brother, James D. McCormick.
Funeral Services:
Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. – 12 Noon at the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 352 W. Clinton, Frankfort. Memorial services will begin at 12 Noon at the church. Burial will be in Whiteman Cemetery, Michigantown. Memorial donations may be made to the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S.
