Salvador “Sal” Mendoza, 38, Lafayette, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Santa Anna, CA on April 2, 1984. He married Christy Gray on September 29, 2012. She survives.
Sal was a member of Trader’s Point Christian Church. He worked in construction for years before becoming a care giver for Caring Hearts at Home. He was a generous man with a servant’s heart, always willing to give of his time and abilities in any situation. He was a family man that loved his wife, and his children were his pride and joy. He could always be found playing basketball with them, doing fun activities and going on little trips and taking them places. He doted on them and was always tending to and caring for them. They were his world.
Along with his wife of 10 years, Sal is survived by his father, Salvador (Susana) Vargas; children, Ezekiel, Victoria, Gabriel, and Emmanuel “Manny” Mendoza; his siblings, Palone (Rosa Hernandez) Vargas, Abraham Vargas, and Glory Vargas; parents-in-law, Gary and Vickie Paris Gray; sisters-in-law, Kelley Gray and Nicole (Matt) Weaver; nephews, Christian and Sammy Huizar, Noah, Jacob, Luke and Micah Weaver, and Daniel, Christian and Alejandro Vargas; and niece, Eliana Weaver.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Victoria Lea Gray.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 11am until the time of the service at 2pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel. Pastor Nick Jaymes will officiate.
