Esther A. Watkins, 94, formerly of Michigantown, died February 16, 2023 at Milner Community Healthcare, Rossville, Ind. She was born March 21, 1928 in Clinton County, Ind. to Melvin & Clara (Merrill) Phillips. She marri
ed William Harold Watkins on November 24, 1946 and he preceded her in death on February 25, 1976.
Esther attended Jackson Township School and was a 1946 graduate of Michigantown High School. She had lived most of her life in Clinton County. She was a very active member of the Michigantown United Methodist Church and a former member of the Beard Order of Eastern Star. Esther had been Postmaster of the Michigantown Post Office, retiring in 1997.
Esther is survived by 3 sons: Richard (Renita) Watkins of rural Frankfort, Kevin (Vikki) Watkins of Frankfort, Steve Watkins of Marion, OH, Daughter: Dianna (Michael) Kepner of Crawfordsville, Daughter-in-Law: Jane Watkins of Forest, 7 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Robert Watkins in 2002 and an infant granddaughter in 1976.
Funeral Services:
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2023 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday St. Paul Cemetery, Forest, Ind.
