Larry Dean Reed passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023 after a year-long battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Larry was born to parents Roy and Edith Reed on October 18, 1942, in Frankfort, Indiana. He graduated from Frankfort High School and earned two degrees from Purdue University including an Associate in Applied Science with distinction in Aviation Maintenance Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Supervision. Larry married Alta Louise Chezem from Rossville in June of 1964 and they had three children, Amy, Gregg and Ryan.
He worked in a variety of careers with Detroit Diesel-Allison, Honeywell, St. Vincent Hospital. American Family Insurance and retired after 25 years from the West Lafayette School Corporation where he was the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.
In his personal time, he enjoyed fishing, playing the banjo, working on cars, woodworking, playing cards, and dancing with his bride. He had a solution-oriented mind and was meticulous in how he approached getting things done. He also enjoying spending the Indiana winters in sunny Naples, Florida where he served on the Board of Directors at Moorhead Manor.
Larry loved spending time with his family and friends and is survived by his wife, Alta Reed, Daughter, Amy Will (Husband, Paul), Son, Gregg Reed (Wife, Mary Ann), Son Ryan Reed (Wife, Alicia), and five grandchildren Lexi Reed, Laci Reed, Harrison Kossover, Liam Reed and Aubree Reed.
He is preceded in death by brother Allan Reed.
Visitation will take place, Tuesday, August 14, 2023, from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel. Burial will follow at Fair Haven Cemetery.
