Zionsville Police Department Teen Academy Registration Is Live

The Zionsville Police Teen Academy registration is officially live for community members to sign up for a “fun, free and safe opportunity for children ages 11 to 15 to learn more about police work.”

The academy is a free 5-day experience from June 10 through June 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mulberry Fields with a graduation on June 14 at 6 p.m. The training will showcase police work to teens interested in the law enforcement field, including physical training, K-9 demonstrations, internet usage, building searches, character development, defensive tactics, firearms training simulations, identity theft, special response team and tours of the Zionsville Police Department and jail.

“The academy will offer classroom and practical instruction educating and simulating that of real police training,” the organizers released. “Participants will learn different laws and rules that apply to various situations the Zionsville Police Department officers may deal with on a regular basis. Most importantly, the purpose of the Teen Academy is to help reinforce decision-making and leadership skills.”

The academy will be held at Mulberry Fields Park, Boys and Girls Club, Zionsville Police Department and other sites depending on the activities, weather and availability. Participants will receive a Teen Academy t-shirt, a pair of shorts and a baseball cap on the first day, which will be required attire for the entirety of the 5-day academy.

Participants will be provided a one-hour lunch break every day, but the participants must bring their own meal during the academy.

Only the first 40 applicants will be considered for the academy, and community members may apply on zionsville-in.gov or by clicking here.
