Mildred C. “Kitty” Thrine

Mildred Catherene “Kitty” Thrine, 95, passed away at home in Frankfort, Indiana on Saturday, April 13, 2024. She was born at home in Lebanon, on June 29, 1928, a daughter of the late Charles O. and Geraldine (Wines) Stevens.

A 1947 Lebanon High School graduate, she played clarinet in the high school band.

She and Phil Thrine were married in the St. Joseph rectory, on November 1, 1947. He preceded her in death in 2005.

While in high school Kitty worked at Scott’s Five and Dime in Lebanon. She especially enjoyed working the candy counter. She was a telephone switchboard operator for 30 years and took the last call in Lebanon before the calls went dial. After ten years in Lebanon, Kitty spent ten years in Frankfort and then ten years in Indianapolis.

Kitty and Phil enjoyed square dancing, auctions, going out to eat and dancing at the Eagles. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign War and a past member of the Boone County Historical Society.

Kitty was the last living relative of her generation in our family.

She was predeceased by her husband, parents, brother Woody, and sisters Eileen Showers, Maxine Dickerson, Vera Robison, and granddaughter Angel Alley.

She is survived by daughters, Sally (Eber II) Morgan, Susan (Jim) Teeter, Sharon (Randy) Scott, Libby (Wayne Miller) Silva; six grandchildren, Jason Alley, Jennifer Alley, Jesse Silva, Jacob Silva, Megan Brown, and Amanda Diggs; six great grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services are planned for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Her eldest nephew Gary Showers conducting services. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.
