Richard Allen Huffer

Richard Allen Huffer, 91, Rossville, passed away surrounded by his family Saturday, July 13, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Michigantown on September 10, 1932, to Orion Barclay and Iris Geneva (Pittsenbarger) Huffer.  He married Sharon Kay Black on May 4, 1958, and she survives.

Richard was a 1951 graduate of Michigantown High School.  He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.  He owned his own building contractor business, Huffer & Son Construction until his retirement in 1994.  He was a member of Rossville Bible Fellowship Church, a 50-year member of the Beard Masonic Lodge, Life member of the Rossville American Legion, the Rossville Lions Club, the Indianapolis Shriners Club and Scottish Rite, Frankfort Moose, and served on the Geetingsville Telephone Board of Directors for 24 years. He enjoyed working with his hands and building things, playing and watching basketball, reading history books, traveling and making memories with his family.

Along with his wife of 66 years, Richard is survived by his son, JB (Marna) Huffer; daughter, Kristi (Scott) Skiles; grandchildren, Matt (Melissa) Skiles, Megan (Chris) Hensley, Jared Huffer and Mallory Huffer; great grandchildren, Austin, Kayla, Tori, Jordan, Caleb and Callie; and great-great grandchildren, Krew, Mani, Harper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Belva Rule and Sara Crum.

Visitatation will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 11am until the time of the service at 3pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel in Rossville.  Pastor Chris Albin will officiate.  Burial will follow at Rossville Cemetery.  Military Rites will be performed by the Clinton County Honor Guard.  Memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s honor to the Rossville Bible Fellowship Church or the Rossville School Foundation.  Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
