The Big Swing Band from Lafayette, Indiana will knock your socks off with their classic swing music from the 1930’s & 40″s. They are performing in the Elizabeth O’Rear Skanta Theatre in the Frankfort Community Public Library on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m.
There are 21 members in the band, and with five saxophones, four trombones and four trumpets, the Big Swing Band puts the brass in the forefront. A steady rhythm section of drums, bass, piano and guitar give the band’s driving rhythm. They are topped with both female and male vocalists.
This mixed with crooning vocals and righteous solos they are determined to keep the big band tradition alive. You won’t want to miss this exhilarating experience. They play standards from the American songbook recorded by such legends as Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney and many more.
Tickets are now available for $10 each and may be purchased at the circulation desk of the Frankfort Library or over the phone with a credit card. Want to see the show for free? The concert series is in need of two volunteers for the night of the concert. Each volunteer will receive a free ticket to see The Big Swing Band. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Jamie at [email protected] or call the library at 765-654-8746.
