Laurel L. Long, 83, of Jamestown, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Witham Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 28, 1941, in Montgomery County, Indiana, a daughter of the late Leland Shrout and Genevieve Ruth (Hood) Shrout.
On April 17, 1957, she married Herbert L. Long, and he preceded her in death on January 19, 2010.
Laurel started her career at Witham Hospital as a housekeeper, and later transitioned into a nurse’s aide. After many years of hard work, she retired.
Laurel attended Crossroads Community Church of the Nazarene in Ladoga, Indiana. She cherished the time spent with her family. Laurel was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Survivors include her son, Fred (Sharon) Long of Jamestown; grandchildren, Cody Culley of Lebanon, Tanner (Chelsea) Long of Lebanon, Josh TenEyck of Lebanon, Angie (Paul) Dixon of Lebanon, Shelby (Amanda) Childers of Austin, Texas, and Jennifer Ahmad of Illinois; great grandchildren, Lexi, Alanna, Elora, Mariam, Safa, Zeshan, and Kate; brother, Bobby (Louise) Shrout of Brownsburg; and sisters, Mary Alice Thomas of Jamestown, Pat Webb of Bainbridge, and Anne (Kenny) Tonlinson of Lebanon.
In addition to her parents and husband, Laurel was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah L. Culley; son, Edward L. Long; and sister, Wanda Conkright.
Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Porter and Hunt Funeral Home, 315 West Main Street, in Jamestown, Indiana. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow services at Fairview Cemetery in North Salem.
