Jerry A. Ensinger, 77, of a life-long Flora resident, passed away at Rosewalk Village of Lafayette.
He was born February 16, 1940, in Flora, to the late Helen Mae Siple Herning. He was raised by his grandparents, the late Elmer and Catherine Podgorski Siple.
Jerry graduated from Flora High School in 1958, and worked as a typesetter for several newspapers. He later worked several jobs throughout the Lafayette area. Jerry was a dirt track racing fanatic who loved to read newspapers and watch college basketball. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his one-liners like, “You’ve got a lot to learn.”
Surviving Jerry are one sister, Barbara (Jerry) Schultz, of Kokomo; brother-in-law, Jimmie Lee Benedict, of Peru; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to his mother and grandparents, Jerry is preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn Sue Benedict and Sharon (Robert) Davison.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora, from Noon to the start of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Lehman Hale will officiate.
