Clinton County Department Heads Tour New Annex Building

Clinton County department heads and elected officials were invited at the end of last week to attend an exclusive walk-through of the new County Annex building that is expected to open in the late spring or early summer this year at the corner of Washington Street and Main Street in Frankfort.

The building spans 41,925-square-feet across three stories and will offer ample space for the various county departments to better meet the growing needs of Clinton County while maintaining opportunities for offices to expand in the Courthouse as well.

Auditor Britt Ostler commented about the new space that will hold her office once it reaches completion.

“It’s so bright and accommodating,” Ostler said. “Not only will it provide us with more space, but it seems to be a lot more user friendly for those doing business with us.”

The walk-through allowed department heads to observe the ongoing progress of the building while also familiarizing themselves with the layout and features, including new office spaces, conference rooms and public service areas that will accommodate the offices that will move from the Courthouse and the patrons.

“The new building is full of modern, accessible spaces,” Commissioner President Jordan Brewer said. “We are excited to see the project near completion and look forward to welcoming our citizens to this new facility.”

Crews are currently building out the platform in the commissioners’ meeting room, installing floor and wall tiles in the restrooms and insulating duct work throughout the building. Crews will finish the exterior brick installation on the north side of the building as the weather begins to warm up.
