Frankfort Library Hosts ‘Finding The Right Mother’ Event Tomorrow, Saturday, March 15; Reservations Required

Tomorrow, Saturday, March 15 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Jennifer Van Horn will teach a genealogy workshop entitled “Finding the Right Mother” at the Frankfort Community Public Library for participants to learn how to find and use different source types, alongside indirect evidence, to help determine the correct mother of children in a family group.

During the event Van Horn will also present completed research case studies, including on that involves DNA evaluation, to help attendees visualize the application of the information they are learning. Participants will also have the opportunity to practice with hands-on exercises.

Van Horn is a Genealogy Library volunteer at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center in Zionsville, where she helps beginners and lifelong family historians find something new. She also serves as the president of the Boone County Genealogical Society.

“Finding the Right Mother” is an intermediate-level class. Participants should be familiar with a variety of source types and have experience conducting document searches in-person and online using Ancestry, FamilySearch or MyHeritage.

The class will be held in the lower-level meeting room, and attendees will break for lunch around noon. The cost to attend is $2, and registration is required to attend. To register, call 765-654-8746, visit myfcpl.org/calendar or stop by the library. For more information, contact Genealogy Manager Jill Garrison at 765-654-8746 at extension 1137 or jgarrison@myfcpl.org.
