The Clinton County Government has announced the promotion of its first Human Resources Director who assumed her new position today, March 10.
The County announced that Sesaly Reifert, Clinton County’s Payroll and Benefits Administrator, has been promoted to Human Resources Director, being chosen from over 50 applicants for the newly-created position.
The County had previously used a contractor for HR support, but the staff determined that the day-to-day responsibilities eventually became too much for a contractor to handle.
“We leaned heavily on Sesaly over the past couple years to help with HR-related tasks,” Clinton County Commissioner President Jordan Brewer said. “She has helped us rework personnel policies, draft new job descriptions, and conduct salary surveys – all well outside her scope of work. This new position will alleviate the extra work from the payroll department.”
Reifert, who began working with the county in March 2021, will be responsible for overseeing OSHA reporting, workers’ compensation, onboarding of new hires, including background checks and benefits administration, and managing the county’s employee benefit plans.
“I’m excited about this new opportunity,” Reifert said. “I’m confident it will help streamline operations and make the county more efficient. I’m looking forward to serving the county in this new capacity.”
Brewer shared his enthusiasm for the Reifert taking the reins as the Human Resources Director and to have found someone to promote from within the organization.
“We were looking for a candidate who could both connect with people and handle difficult conversations. It’s a diverse skill set that not everyone possesses,” Brewer said. “We’ve worked with Sesaly long enough to know she has all these skills, people are comfortable with her, and the transition should be seamless.”
