The AARP Tax Aide program is offering free assistance for low to moderate income and elderly beginning February 1. Most returns are electronically filed. All volunteers assisting with taxes must pass a test to be certified preparers.
Clients should bring a picture ID for each taxpayer, and a social security card or information verifying the social security number for each person on your tax return. Also, bring wage earnings (W-2’s), interest statements, pension statements, last year’s tax return, property tax statement, records of rent paid during the year and any other information on expenses and income. Any information to verify Health Insurance Coverage should also be brought. Those who purchased health insurance through the Marketplace must bring their form 1095A.
Tax assistance begins February 1 at Wesley Manor by appointment only. Call 656-2111 to schedule an appointment between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Tax Counselors will be available for appointments each Wednesday and Thursday during February. Beginning in March appointments will be on Wednesdays only through April 11th. Wesley Manor is located at 1555 N Main Street in Frankfort. Taxpayers should use the Health Care Pavilion Entrance on the Northeast part of the building.
Beginning March 1st. tax assistance will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays only and continuing through April 12 at the Frankfort Neighborhood Center, 259 S Third Street in Frankfort. No appointment is needed.
