Clinton Central Football Preview

Clinton Central is coming off a 3-7 season, but things are looking up for the Bulldogs.

In last year’s effort, the Bulldogs matched their win total from the previous three seasons combined.

It was a strong start for Clinton Central, as they took down Frankfort and Faith Christian to begin the year. Halfway through the season, the Bulldogs sat at 3-2.

The Bulldogs faced a tougher schedule down the stretch and ended the season on a five-game skid.

Jeremy Fendley enters his third season as head coach of Clinton Central. Fendley will have a tall task replacing several standouts on the offensive line, including Blaine Premeaux, Daniel Holton and Nate Wells, as well as do-it-all quarterback Klayton Stevens.

“That’s been the coaches’ challenge this offseason is to figure (the offensive line) out,” Fendley said. “We have no junior lineman and one senior lineman, so we’re going to be relying a lot on some sophomores and a couple of key freshmen.”

Creed Mennen and Amrin Barrett return as key pieces on both sides of the ball. They’re joined by Elijah Gunderson, Levi Jacobs, and Jordan Wolfe as the seniors on the roster.

“We have five great seniors,” Fendley said. “They have all taken this team and put it on their shoulders; this is truly their team.”

The Bulldogs will start the season at home against county rival Frankfort. The game will be available to watch on Hoosierland TV.

“What I’m really looking forward to is just getting back out with the community,” Fendley said. “We’ve gotten such great community support in everything we do. It’s always great to get out and provide an environment where the community can come out and fellowship and talk about the gridiron dreams and Friday night lights. I love the walkout to the field before the game with the guys. You can just feel that adrenaline rise.”

After traveling to Faith Christian in week two, Clinton Central will take on the Gophers of Clinton Prairie in the Corn Bowl in week three.
