
Vernon “Vern” L. Patchett, age 79, of Frankfort passed away December 7, 2025, at home. He was born on October 13, 1946, in Frankfort to Harold and Lavonna (King) Patchett. Vern married Janice Elliott on October 13, 1968, and she preceded him in death on October 1, 2020.
He graduated from Clinton Central High School in 1964 after which he continued his education to become an EMT. Vern served in the US Army where he received the titles of Marksman with the M-14 Rifle and Sharpshooter with the .45 Pistol. He was stationed at West Point where he served as a military policeman.
He was a very active member of the community. Vern was a member of Beard Lodge #641 where he served as Past master and Past Patron. He was a member of Frankfort York Rite Bodies where he served as Past High Priest. Vern was a past member of the Michigan Township Volunteer Fire Department and as an EMT with Northeast Volunteer Ambulance Service in Michigantown. He was also a part of the Royal Arch Masons, Past Illustrious Master, Frankfort Council # 46, Cryptic Masons, Past Commander of Frankfort Commandery #29, Knights Templar, Past Governor York Rite College, Past Director General Yeoman of York, Allied Masonic Degrees and Knight of York Cross of Honor. Vern enjoyed watching the Purdue Boilermakers, specifically basketball and football. In his spare time, he was often found spending time with family and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Vern is survived by his sons, Michael Patchett of Marianna, Florida and Gregory (Sandy) Patchett of Frankfort: sisters, Linda Fye of Galveston, Loretta Hitch of Frankfort, and Dana (Dick) Miller of Frankfort: brothers, Jerry Patchett of Forest and Steven (Sandra) Patchett of Lafayette: 8 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren, with one on the way.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, daughter, Melissa Ann: Brother-in-Laws, Allan Bond, Terry Fye and Randy Hitch: and Sister-in-Law, Linda Patchett.
Visitation will be held, Friday, December 12, 2024, from 11am-1pm with a masonic service at 12:45pm, funeral services will follow with Pastor Mark Miller officiating .Burial will be held at Hopewell Cemetery, with military rites to be performed at the graveside.
