Auditions for the community theater show, ‘Things My Mother Taught Me’ by Katherine DiSaviano will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, or Monday, February 5 at the Longstreet Playhouse, north of Danville. Callbacks will be Tuesday, February 6, if necessary. Theatre doors will open at 6:30 p.m. each evening for auditions. This play will be directed by Will Pullens of Frankfort.
Actors auditioning will be asked to read from the script and to share one thing their mother’s taught them. Those auditioning will need to bring a list of any conflicts between February 11-16, and March 5 through the run of the show. They should also bring information about the shows they have done in the previous two years.
This modern day romantic comedy features Gabe and Olivia. They are a young couple that met in college and have been dating for several years. They have just embarked on a new adventure. It includes moving from New York City to an apartment in Chicago where they plan to move in together for the first time. Their trip half way across the country to their new life does not go as planned. The situation becomes even more complicated when their parents show up to help with the moving. Throw in a building super that struggles with the English language and you have the formula for an evening of laughs.
Playwright Katherine DiSavino uses this play to take a look at generational relationships and the lessons we learned from people that raised us. The show is about love and family.
