Shirley J. Cooper, 86, of Frankfort, Ind., passed away February 20, 2026 at Clinton House Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Frankfort. She was born on January 8, 1940 in Barren County, Kentucky to James Mitchel and Nina Edith (Cooksey) Kinslow. She married J. Paul Cooper on July 7, 1956 and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2002.
Shirley attended school in Colfax and was a homemaker. She was an avid seamstress and loved making quilts.
Surviving are her children: Wanda (Carlo) Lewis of Alaska, Andrew Ryan (Brandi) Cooper of Frankfort, Paul Daniel Cooper of Alaska, and daughter-in-law: Tammy Cooper of Frankfort, 6 grandchildren: Amy (Shon) Gambrel, Joseph (Shelby) Lewis, Chandra Cooper, Shirley (Gilberto) Herrera, Heather (Erik) Hernandez, and Kristen (Jason) Hodgin, 14 great-grandchildren, sister: Janet (Jim) Parker of Lebanon, half-brother: James Mitchell Kinslow of Frankfort, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Charles David Cooper, brother: James Russell, and her sisters: Ruth Hiner and Edith Toney.
Burial will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026 in Bunnell Cemetery, Frankfort. Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center and Clinton County Crematory, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort are honored to assist the Cooper family.
