Mission Bear Hugs Launches in Clinton County to Support Children in Crisis

The Kirklin American Legion Auxiliary Unit 310 has launched a new community initiative aimed at bringing comfort to children facing traumatic situations.

The program, called Mission Bear Hugs, is a teddy bear collection drive designed to provide stuffed animals to children during difficult times. The initiative will serve children throughout Clinton County, with donated bears distributed by local law enforcement officers and first responders to young victims of auto accidents, fires, and other emergencies.

Organizers say the goal is simple but meaningful: offer comfort when it is needed most.

“A small bear can bring comfort, security, and hope when children need it most,” organizers shared in the program announcement.

How to Donate

Community members are encouraged to donate new teddy bears at the following locations:

  • Kirklin American Legion Post 310 — Tuesdays through Saturdays from 4 p.m. to close

  • Kirklin Public Library — During regular open hours

Donations will directly support local children experiencing overwhelming or frightening circumstances.

Making a Difference

Mission Bear Hugs organizers emphasize that community support plays a critical role in the program’s success.

“Your support helps us reach more children, easing their fear and pain during overwhelming situations,” the group noted. “Together, we can make a difference in our community.”

Residents are encouraged to “bring a bear, share a hug, and spread comfort” by participating in the drive.
