Violet I. Lafferty

Violet was born on February 18, 1939, in Sheridan to William Allison Pierce and Helen Irene (Ridge) Pierce Commons. She attended Sheridan High School and graduated with the Class of 1957.

In 1956, Violet met Earnest Alvin “Ernie” Lafferty at Dewey’s Drive-In restaurant. The two later married and built a loving life together, raising four children: Monica, David, Darrin, and Dennis. Violet and Ernie shared 61 years of marriage before Ernie was called home in 2017. Violet was a devoted wife and homemaker who deeply cared for her family.

After her two older children graduated, Violet began working as the elementary school secretary for the Clinton Central School Corporation. She faithfully served the school for 23 years before retiring. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Ernie and spending time with family.

Violet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernie Lafferty; both of her parents; a step-sister; and two step-brothers.

She is survived by her brother, Max (Sue) Pierce; and her four children: Monica (Dan) Kiger of Lebanon, David (Julie) Lafferty of Kirklin, Dennis (Tiffany) Lafferty of Apache Junction, AZ and Darrin Lafferty of Kirklin. She is also survived by five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Other surviving relatives include a step-brother, a half-brother, and step-grandchildren.

Violet felt deeply blessed in life and believed her greatest blessing was her relationship with God and His Son, Jesus Christ, whom she knew as her Lord and Savior. Her prayer was that her family and friends would also come to know Him as their Lord and Savior.
