INDOT Announces Closure of U.S. 421 Bridge Over Cripe Run Through August

The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced an upcoming road closure affecting motorists traveling along U.S. 421 (State Road 39 North) as part of a scheduled bridge maintenance project.

Beginning on or after Wednesday, April 15, crews will close the U.S. 421 bridge over Cripe Run, located between County Road 700 North and County Road 800 North. The closure is necessary to allow for essential repairs and maintenance to ensure the long-term safety and reliability of the structure.

Construction is expected to continue through August, though officials note that the timeline may shift depending on weather conditions and other factors.

During the closure, an official detour route will be in place. Drivers will be directed to follow State Road 26 to State Road 75, before reconnecting with State Road 26 to return to their original route. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and consider alternative routes when possible.

INDOT reminds drivers to use caution when traveling near work zones, remain alert for changing traffic patterns, and prioritize safety for both workers and fellow motorists.

Updates on the project and any changes to the schedule will be provided as they become available.
