Opal Mae Harper, 86, of Mulberry, passed away on July 20, 2026 at Mulberry Health. She was born on May 9, 1940 in Delphos, Ohio to Charles and Regina (Siefker) Schlatman. She married John E. Harper Sr. on June 25, 1958 and he preceded her in death on August 6, 2012.
Opal was a graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School and worked at Mac’s Restaurant and the Frankfort Country Club. She and John enjoyed going to yard sales and then bragging about all the bargains that were found. She leaves behind many fond memories of finding new pieces to add to her Christmas village display. She enjoyed puzzles, walking her neighborhood and talking with friends, but above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving is her son: Harold J. (Darla) Harper of Frankfort, sister: Opal Jean Thiel, along with 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: John E. Harper Jr., brothers: Orvil, Orland and Orbie and sisters: Charlotte, Opalean, and Olive.

A funeral service with Alan Downing officiating, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort. Friends may visit of Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park.
