The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Special Weather Statement for north central Indiana, including Clinton County. An area of accumulating snow will move quickly through central Indiana Monday evening, with the onset of snowfall as soon as 6 p.m. across far northwestern portions of the area.
Snowfall will likely reach the Indianapolis metro area by 9 p.m. and southeastern portions of central Indiana by 11 p.m.. Accumulating snowfall should last 3 to 5 hours in any one location.
Amounts along and northwest of a Covington to Kokomo line will total 2 to 3 inches with isolated higher mounts. 1 to 2 inches is expected along and north of the Interstate 70 corridor,with up to an inch south of 70.
Roads may become slick in spots due to the snowfall, particularly during the peak intensity, and visibilities may drop quickly to as low as one quarter mile. Snow will likely end by the Tuesday morning commute, but slick spots may remain, particularly on side streets, bridges and overpasses, along with any untreated surfaces.
Exercise caution if you plan on traveling this evening into Tuesday morning. Allow extra time to reach your destination.
