More than 75 community, government, education and business leaders from the City of Frankfort and Clinton County have been invited to meet Wednesday, March 7 for Mayor Chris McBarnes’ eighth City-County Leadership Summit, with this year’s focus on the vital impact green spaces and recreational amenities have on economic development and tourism for a community.
Summit attendees will hear from University Distinguished Professor Dr. John Crompton of Texas A&M University who is a national award-winning educator and recognized expert in the field of recreation, park and tourism sciences at the Skanta Theatre on the second floor of the Frankfort Community Public Library from 6:15 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The event is open to the entire community.
“I am so pleased Dr. Crompton can be with us March 7 to share his knowledge, experience and expertise in the green space and recreational amenities arena that plays a critically important role in impacting our local economy and small businesses, attracting a skilled workforce and enhancing property values for Frankfort and Clinton County to move forward into the future,” McBarnes said. “I learned a great deal just from speaking with Dr. Crompton when I invited him to Frankfort, so I know all of our Summit attendees are in for an enlightening and educational presentation from him.”
Following the March 7 Leadership Summit, Crompton will remain in Frankfort the next day, Thursday, March 8, for follow up discussions with various community leaders, capped off by an additional presentation at a special meeting of the Frankfort City Council that evening.
“A special thank you to the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce and Executive Director Shan Sheridan for their generous sponsorship of our Leadership Summit this year. We look forward to sharing information learned at the Summit with the community in the near future. Everyone is welcome to attend the March 8 City Council meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers in Old Stoney to hear Dr. Crompton’s follow up remarks and discussion,” McBarnes said.
This year’s Leadership Summit will be streamed on Facebook Live and archived on Facebook, so anyone unable to attend the event can still see Dr. Crompton’s presentation via that format.
