The second annual Friends of the Frankfort Library Women’s Expo is March 17, 2018 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. This is a free event. Over 30 women owned businesses represented. For a list of vendors visit the website at myfcpl.org/womens-expo. Each vendor will donate an item to put in our raffle. Tickets will be available to purchase during the expo.
There will be two speakers at this year’s Women’s Expo. The Women’s Expo is partnering with the Daughters of the American Revolution to bring Leslie Goddard to the Skanta Theatre to do her portrayal of Amelia Earhart. Leslie Goddard will be performing at 10 a.m. It’s her life’s work to bring memorable women from the past alive and to tell historical stories so that lessons from the past are more meaningful and powerful.
The Women’s Expo’s second Speaker will be Karen Land, three time Alaskan Iditarod participant. In March 2002, Karen Land made her first appearance in the Iditarod and finished the race in just under 14 days. She went on to compete in the Iditarod in 2003 and 2004. Completing the Iditarod is among the most difficult feats in all of sports. More people have reached the summit of Mount Everest than have made it to the Iditarod finish line behind a team of dogs. Karen will speak at 1 p.m. in the Elizabeth O’Rear Skanta Theatre on March 17, 2018.
Frank Harnass of Karate USA will be in The Edge teaching teen girls ages 13-18 self-defense moves. Signed liability forms must be turned in before the workshop. See Maggie in the Teen Department for more information, or email [email protected]
The Women’s Expo will recognize four outstanding female high school students from Clinton County at 3 p.m. in the Elizabeth O’Rear Skanta Theatre.
