Paul Lewis Barnes, age 81, went to be with the Lord on February 28, 2018 at 7:15 p.m. He was born April 28, 1936, to the late George and Bessie (Burris) Barnes. He married Lula Belle Martin on August 25, 1957, celebrating 60 years of marriage this past August; she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Diana Lynn Wilson, of Monticello, Kentucky and Tina Marie Johnson, of Noblesville, Indiana, and one son, Paul Lewis Barnes, Jr. (Kim) of Frankfort, Indiana. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He also has two sisters, Ruth Byrd, of Frankfort, Indiana, and Janet Lois Baber, of Kirklin, Indiana, and one brother, Johnny Barnes, of Frankfort, Indiana.
Two brothers preceded him in death, Robert Lyle Barnes and George Ray Barnes.
He had accepted the Lord many years ago and was an ordained minister with the Wesleyan Tabernacle Association. He built the Cabell Community Holiness Church of which he was the pastor until he went to meet the Lord. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War from 1954-1956. He was a hard worker and many of his family and friends enjoyed listening to him tell stories around the wood stove, laughing and making cherishable memories and giving advice.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 2, 2018 between 5-8 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home and Saturday, March 3 between 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Cabell Community Holiness Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1 pm at the Cabell Community Holiness Church. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery. Full military honors will be performed by our local DAV Chapter 105.
