At approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday, officers from the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to Interstate 65 at the 131-mile marker southbound on a vehicle stalled in the far right lane.
As officers were responding, dispatchers received another call stating the stalled vehicle had been struck by another vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found a 4-door sedan still in the middle of the interstate with a male trapped inside unresponsive.
Officers were able to extricate the driver, and begin CPR. Whitestown Fire Department/EMS personnel and Zionsville Fire Department/EMS personnel tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate the driver, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
