When the month of May rolls around, it means two things — warmer weather and the Senior Olympics sponsored by Genda Funeral Home.
“We always look forward to the month of May and seeing our friends return to our activities and events,” said Genda Funeral Home Director Mark Genda. “Some time back, May was declared Senior Month and from that declaration, I always wanted to do something and Senior Olympics came to mind. Once we finally got it off the ground, it has seemed to be an enjoyable event and it has worked pretty well.”
The event has been a constant in the area for the past 16 or 17 years.

Genda said he has been approached about the possibilities of having new events such as pickleball, swimming and tennis in the future.
“When I’m hearing these things, it kind of gets us recharged,” said Genda. “So next year, sorry it’s too late for this year, I believe they are going to looking into some of those different events and repopulating our events.”
