Clinton County Daily News and WILO 96.9 has learned about the good news (and bad news) from one of the area Girl Scout Troops. The following report is based on a report from Kendra Weaver, Girl Scout Leader in the area:

Our Girl Scout Cadettes went and picked up trash along the fields for their “Take Action” project tonight. They were overwhelmed and saddened at the amount of alcohol containers thrown out of cars. I’m guessing 80% of the bags are alcohol containers from cans, plastic bottles to glass. This was a good lesson for them to be more cautious of the cars around you while driving, as some of them will be new drivers soon. Unfortunately drinking and driving is a BIG problem, and this showed them that.
This was only a mile stretch and we (farmers) have to pick it up or our side ditches would look like the landfill. The trash doesn’t magically disappear. It made me happy we could show/teach the Girl Scouts about this growing problem. A couple of them even asked if they could have a summer job to help with the rest of the feilds. (Melts my heart)
