Utility Service Board General Manager Todd Corrie said Monday about 500 households were without power Saturday night when a lightning arrester failed.
Corrie said the outage was mostly in the southwest part of the county towards Thorntown in addition to the southwest part of the city. He also added it took awhile for the source of the outage to be found.
A lightning arrester is a device used on electric power systems and telecommunication systems to protect the insulation and conductors of the system from the damaging effects of lightning.
