Accidental Drowning Being Investigated in Boone County

At approximately 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, the Boone County Communications Center received a 911 call from the residence of Tim and Misty Aliff, located at 11347 W. CR 500 S., in Boone County. The caller reported that two children fell into a pond and were not breathing. Units arrived on the scene and found family members performing CPR. Law Enforcement arrived and began assisting with CPR on both children.

The children were identified as Arianna Aliff, daughter of Tim and Misty Aliff, five years of age, deceased; and a foster child, three years of age, listed in critical condition at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis. She was under foster care by the Aliff’s. Mr. and Mrs. Aliff are parents to four biological children, two adopted children, and two foster children. They are licensed as foster parents.

Sheriff Nielsen stated “We are currently working very closely with the Boone County Coroner’s Office, the Indiana Department of Child Services, and the Department of Natural Resources on this investigation. First and foremost, please keep the Aliff family in your thoughts and prayers. This is a tragedy that none of us should ever have to endure, the loss or serious injury of a child. I want to assure everyone that we will continue to do our due diligence in finding out why this happened, or how it could have been prevented. Please respect the privacy of the family as they grieve during this difficult time.”

This will be the final update at this time.
