Frankfort Parks Department will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, June 28 at 4 p.m. at Luther Howe Park to thank donors and celebrate the installation of an Omni Spinner.
Frankfort resident, Gena Carson, has been working with the Concerned Citizens Group for the past year to raise the funds needed to purchase this adaptive play equipment. Carson expressed excitement for the new equipment stating, “Now children with mobility issues can safely play on this Omni Spinner merry-go-round with their peers.” Carson is affiliated with the Clinton County Autism Support Group. In July she is hosting a special needs family pitch-in and play for this group at Luther Howe Park.
The Omni Spinner is the second piece of adaptive play equipment at Luther Howe Park. It joins a swing and a glider that are already in place. Parks Superintendent Travis Sheets said, “This inclusive playground encourages a shift in our perspective as a community. It is important that all children have the opportunity to play and have equipment that meets their needs. Luther Howe Park serves as a reminder that physical challenges do not limit individual joy. This Omni Spinner is an opportunity to provide all children access to play. When we look for ways to include children of all ages and abilities in our parks we change perceptions and make our community a better place.”
This adaptive play equipment is being added as a result of the generosity of numerous donors including Center Township Trustee, Donaldson’s, Encompass Credit Union, NTK Precision Axle, NHK Seating, Eagles Lodge, Clinton County ARC, Bailey Trucking, Morrison & Robbins Law Firm, Frankfort Optimist Club, Horseshoe Association, the family of Chloe Carson, and Power, Little, Little & Little Law Firm.
