Adding DNA Testing to Your Genealogy Toolkit

The Central Indiana DNA Interest Group (CIDIG) will be presenting a workshop entitled Adding DNA Testing to Your Genealogy Toolkit at the Frankfort Community Public Library on Saturday, August 4, 12:30–4:30 p.m. in Room 219.

The program will consist of three sessions given by CIDIG leaders.  Steve Frank will discuss the types of DNA tests available, the differences between the tests and testing companies, what sort of results each test provides, and how each type of test can benefit your genealogy research.  Angela Guntz will demonstrate how to connect your family tree to your DNA results as well as how to upload your family tree and DNA results to other testing companies in order to expand your potential matches.  Andrea Ackermann will teach a session entitled Getting the Most from Your AncestryDNA Matches in which she will show how to navigate AncestryDNA’s pages and help you discover more about your matches and how they are related to you.

This program is sponsored by the Frankfort Community Public Library and the Clinton County Genealogical Society (CCGS).  There is no charge for CCGS members; the fee for non-members is $10.  Attendees that are working to maintain their librarian certification will earn 1 LEU and 2 TLEUs.
