Alan Dennis Hester passed away peacefully and into the Lord’s hands on November 3, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born on August 25, 1965, in Muncie, Indiana, Alan was the beloved son of Dennis D. Hester and Marianne D. Brietling Biery.
On July 4, 2021, Alan married the love of his life, Rosanne Poole Vale. Together they lived a life full of love, cherishing every moment together. Alan courageously battled ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), fighting the good fight with unwavering determination and grace. Through this brutal battle, he often said he was living his best life now and was the happiest man on earth.

After his years in education, Alan transitioned into the corporate world, working at Arrow Electronics for 21 years. He later brought his talent and integrity to the field of cybersecurity, serving as a Channel Sales Manager for many years at RSA Security, Stealthbits, and then ending his career at Recorded Future.
Alan found joy in the simple, beautiful things of life: camping, hiking, gardening, and spending time outdoors. He loved exploring historical sites and museums. Above all, he cherished time with his wife, children, sister, brother-in-law, and his many treasured friends. Alan found his greatest joy in pouring his heart and time into those he loved.
A devoted follower of Christ, Alan’s faith was the foundation of his life. Alan lived a life marked by purpose, strength, and deep devotion to his faith. He loved studying the Bible and reading Scripture, and he lived out his beliefs with sincerity and conviction. Alan was a long-time member of Zionsville Fellowship Church, where he served faithfully for 23 years in roles including nursery care, Sunday school teaching, small group leadership, mission teams, and discipleship groups. He later attended Traders Point Christian Church, continuing to walk boldly in his faith.
In 2018, Alan became a regular at Celebrate Recovery (Westfield Chapter), where he found healing and community. As a grateful believer in Jesus Christ, he openly shared his journey through co-dependency and his healing from it, pointing others to the hope he found in Christ. Alan leaves behind his forever family at Celebrate Recovery, where his legacy of encouragement, humility, and authenticity will live on.
Alan will always be remembered as someone who pointed people to Jesus—no matter the season of life or his circumstances. His life was a testimony of faith, resilience, and love, and his impact will continue to echo in the lives of all who knew him.
Alan was recently honored by the board and neighbors of Olde Dominion with the dedication of a new sidewalk, located on Oak Street, named The Alan Hester Pathway, in recognition of his commitment to the community and their shared practice of ‘Love Thy Neighbor.’
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosanne Hester of Zionsville; his loving children, Caleb Hester of Germany, Jake (Natalie) Hester of Zionsville, Sam Hester of Zionsville, and Caroline Hester of Zionsville; his stepchildren that he called his own, Will Vale of Texas and Ellie (Cal) Vale Craighead of Texas.
