Alanis Breaks Frankfort Girls Cross Country Record Time

Frankfort High School junior Carina Alanis broke the 11-year-old girls’ cross country record with her time of 19:47 Saturday at the Golden Bear Invitational in Shelbyville. Alanis finished 10th overall in the race.

FHS Downs Prairie in Volleyball

Frankfort defeated Clinton Prairie 27-25, 25-13, 25-19 Thursday night in Case Arena.

Leading the way with a personal best of five aces was Sydni Whitaker, who also contributed nine digs. Playing tough defense for the team was Morgan Adamson, who led in digs and kills with 18 and seven, respectively. Lindsey Gay led the offense with 23 assists and five kills. Bella Colby had a personal best of four blocks and she put down four kills. Allyson Timmons added five kills and two blocks. Maicee Sterrett had seven kills and nine digs, and Tarah Martinez put down six kills and had eight digs. Mercedez Toney played tough defense and served well adding an ace on 11 for 11 serving with 10 digs.

Frankfort’s JV lost in three games.

Tuesday night in Tipton, the Hot Dogs fell to the Blue Devils. Sterrett led the offense with seven kills, Gay had 25 assists and five kills. Adamson and Timmons put down six kills each. Toney had 19 digs.

FHS Boys’ Soccer Loses to Danville

Frankfort fell to 6-8 on the season and 3-3 in the Sagamore following a 4-2 loss Thursday night against Danville. The Hot Dogs scored first with a cross from Cristian Mejia Mora to Gael Hernandez. Danville answered with two goals before half for a 2-1 lead.

Danville extended the lead to 3-1 with a goal early in the second half before the Hot Dogs cut the deficit to one on an unassisted goal by Rudy Garcia.

Braian Munoz scored the lone goal of the JV match as Frankfort defeated Danville 1-0.
