Alice Rose Dunford

Alice Rose Dunford, 89, of West Lafayette, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023, at her home. She was born November 18, 1934, in Templeton, IN to Charles Richard and Gladys Margaret (Westman) Lank. She married Donald Ray Dunford on April 1, 1955; he preceded her in death on December 21, 2016.

Alice graduated from Oxford High School. She retired in July from Wal-Mart in West Lafayette after 27 years as an associate. She greatly enjoyed her family and friends while working there. Alice had worked in her earlier years at PR Mallory in Frankfort. She and her husband owned and operated the Import Car Center in Lafayette from 1967 to 1977. Together they enjoyed Ballroom Dancing and going to many different states for competitions. She was a member of the Illiana Club of Traditional Jazz Dance Club, VFW 1154 Ladies Auxiliary of Lafayette and the American Legion Post 81 Ladies Auxiliary of Monticello.

Alice had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to make people laugh. She was very adventurous, loved to travel, was young at heart, and loved life and living it to the fullest. Alice enjoyed listening to Waltzes, Polkas, and Big Band music.

Alice is survived by her nieces, Karen R. Lank of Walton, Kimberly R. (Michael G.) Mooney of Logansport, Kimberly A. (Mahesh) Lank-Patkar of Camarillo, CA, Cindy (Roy) Clouse of Fresno, CA; nephew, David E. Lank of Logansport; sisters-in-law, Janie Lank of Frankfort, Judy (Loren) Thompson of Greenfield, Patty Kollman of Ellettsville, and a brother-in-law, Dave Russell of Midland, MI.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alice is preceded in death by sisters, Cynthia (Robert) Baker, Elizabeth “Betty” (Robert) Fisher, and Vivian (James) Clouse; brothers, Eugene A. Lank, Robert E. (Jacqueline) Lank, and Carl R. Lank; niece, Debbie A. Clark; nephews, Steve R. Lank, and Kenneth W. Fisher; sister-in-law, Shirley Russell; and brother-in-law, John Kollman.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 12 noon until the start of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort with Pastor Bill Collins officiating.
