Alma G. “Jerry” Smith Squires, 89, of Frankfort, died Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Wesley Manor. She was born April 5, 1930 in Lebanon, Ind. to James and Audrey (Clawson) Waggoner. She married Bill J. Smith on August 29, 1948 in Lebanon and he preceded her in death on September 4, 1990. She married Robert “Lewis” Squires on May 1, 1993 and he preceded her in death on September 23, 2011.
Jerry attended Jackson Schools and earned her GED at Pima College in Tucson, AZ at the age of 63. She was a member of First Christian Church where she also volunteered her time in the “Happy Hearts” Ministry.
Jerry enjoyed spending time with her family, volunteering and helping others. She previously volunteered and was past president of the Paul Phillippe Senior Resource Center, volunteered as a Pink Lady and was a member of the Modern Mothers Club.
Surviving are her 3 Daughters: Cathie (Husband Jerry) Neidlinger of Frankfort, Peg Smith of Pendleton, and Sandi (Husband Dave) Herrick of Frankfort; Daughter-in-law: Karen Smith Beard of Rossville; Dear Family Friend: Mesha McCarty of Pendleton; 7 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren: Amy (Tim) Reinhardt, Hadley, Walker & Joseph, Cindy (B.J.) Hoffman, Kyler, Brandon & Emily Mosson, Chad (Tya) Smith, Michael (Amy) Herrick & Ashlyn, Andy Herrick, Carrie Neidlinger (Mark) and Jeremy (Kendra) Neidlinger. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouses, son: Rick Smith who passed in 1980, 3 sisters: Oralee Maynard, Judy Thompson, and Lura Brogan and her brother: Jack Waggoner.
Friends may visit 4 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main Street, Frankfort. A Funeral Celebration will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Frankfort.
