Anita Lou Pierce

Anita Lou Pierce, 85, of Lafayette, IN, died November 4th 2022 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family. She was born on August 13th, 1937 in Frankfort IN to Fay and Mildred (Woods)Thompson. Anita was a 1955 graduate of Frankfort High School.

In 1960 she married Gorman Pierce and moved to Lafayette IN where she has two children, Tari and Doug Pierce.

She excelled in and enjoyed her 28-year career in optical sales, and was consistently awarded top seller in her company. Her achievements granted her the opportunity to travel all across the world, including one of her favorite trips to Paris and other European countries. Her career also blessed her with many life-long friends who meant the world to her.

One of her greatest joys in life was her granddaughters, Hailey Pierce of Zionsville IN, and Alexa and Makayla Pierce of Lafayette IN. She was also blessed to have spent 6 years with her great-grandson, Jaxson Pierce Pontecorvo, who always brought joy to her heart.

After she retired, she enjoyed her many passions, including volunteering, Tai-Chi, gardening and keeping her yard pristine, playing card games including hand-and-foot with her friends, baking and cooking, visiting wineries, traveling, spending quality time with her granddaughters and great-grandson, and being the crazy cat lady of the neighborhood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, older brother, Gene Thompson, older sister, Mary Underhill, and sister-in-law, Jo Thompson.

Anita was the heart-and-soul of her family and will be dearly missed by her younger brother, Bill Thompson, of Frankfort, Ind., her two children, Tari and Doug Pierce, both of Lafayette, her three granddaughters, Hailey, Alexa, and Makayla, and her great-grandson Jaxson Pierce Pontecorvo.

A memorial gathering will take place on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society, envelopes will be available.  Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S.
