One of Kirklin residents and children’s favorite traditions is the annual visit by Santa and Mrs.Clause each year in their own special style. A parade through town up and down every street to say hello and Merry Christmas to all.
Story contributed by Pamela Clements
On Sunday, December 19, 2021 Santa and Mrs Claus were escorted through the entire town of Kirklin by their elves from Kirklin Fire and EMS.
The group of volunteers met about 2:30 PM to start decorating all of the departments vehicles with colored lights and Christmas decorations.
There were at least 15 Fire and EMS members with several of their family members also The parade was led by a police truck followed by the engine with children on top waving and yelling Merry Christmas, this was Followed by the ambulance decorated with antlers and a red nose and even Frosty tagged along in the back waving at everyone.
Santa and Mrs. Claus rode on the grass rig this year followed by the big red tanker and a police car. All vehicles had their lights and sirens alerting everyone that Santa was coming.
The members enjoyed chili and goodies before and after the parade.
Pamela says they want to thank the Kirklin Police department and their families for escorting them through town.
The department would also like to thank the towns residents with their families and those that drove into town for coming out on this chilly night to greet Santa and his elves. Merry Christmas from Kirklin Volunteer Fire department and EMS.
