The Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department has announced that the 2025 Citizen Academy is now accepting applicants prior to the start date of April 16.
The Citizen Academy will begin on April 16 and will be held every Wednesday for seven weeks from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a conclusion on May 28.
Participants of the academy are expected to attend all classes. The department stated that emergencies and other struggles may occur, which is understood by the officers, but those who apply should be committed to attending every class.
Topics this year include the department history and operations, K9, defensive tactics, situational awareness, firearms, criminal investigations, crime scene investigation, myths of law enforcement, emergency vehicle operations, traffic stops and more.
